2023, One World Publications Ltd
SUMMARY: A descent into the dystopian hell of an authoritarian regime takeover in an imaginary city in Ireland; a warning for our times of the encroachment of authoritarian politics.
MEMORABLE: After slow build up (2/3 of book for me, I only continued because I was reading for bookclub), the as-if-you're there experience of the violence was intense.
RATING: Do not recommend, because I found most of the reading boring (except for MEMORABLE part), BUT, both of my bookclub friends really liked it, comparing it to 1984 by George Orwell AND it won the Booker Prize for 2023.
