In this very slim volume, Nobel Prize winning French author Annie Ernaux recounts her relationship with a 25-year-old student when she was 54 years old.
The reviews call it amazingly written and the fruit of hard work, but I'm afraid I was mostly focused on the age difference, the student breaking up with his girlfriend or fiancée to be with Ernaux, and the author's reflections regarding whether or not she had used him to figure out things about herself and her past, like an abortion she'd had in secret and had never really faced.
